PostHeaderIcon Enable Rename option for Recycle bin

Have you ever tried renaming the Recycle bin ? When you right click the recycle bin, do you get the rename option. I bet you will not get it. But Windows Vista has that option. So I was thinking why couldn't I have that option in XP. Every folder and file has this option, even My computer can be renamed but why not recycle bin. It is also an object like My computer or a simple folder. Why Microsoft could not provide this option, may they did not want to. But I did not want it to show as Recycle bin instead I wanted to show it as Trash. So this is what I did.

Recyclebin right click without rename option

This is what you get when you right click on the Recycle Bin. But you can enable the rename option as you get for any other item on windows by a simple Registry tweak.

  1. Go to Start -> Run. Type Regedit and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder
  3. Change the Attributes value from 40 01 00 20 to 50 01 00 20 and CallForAttributes value to 0x0000000.
  4. Close the Registry Editor and now right click on Recycle Bin, you will see the right click menu as shown below
